NURFC Scholarship Contest for High School Seniors

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is conducting a scholarship contest for those who are high school seniors and will graduate in the year 2022. In this contest, the NURFC is spotlighting the stories of ancestors who suffered and battled against slavery in the United States. This contest provides an opportunity for students to share their thoughts and actions, which they will take today and tomorrow, and leave an inspiration or model for future generations so that they can follow them and get inspired to do something good for others. For that, students need to answer a question stating what kind of ancestor they will be. So that people could get lessons from their stories and try to apply the patch in their lives and explore it even better so that the generation next to them get inspired from their goodwill. This will form a chain from generation to generation, and with all, it will get even better.

Students will get awarded for sharing their creativity, personality, and thoughts of who they want to become through their videos and will be evaluated based on the lesson of their story, explanation, action plan, video length, and video quality. The best three video creators will get awarded as first place, second place, and third place winners and will receive award amounts of $1,000, $750, and $250, respectively. The amount will get utilized for the winner’s educational purposes, which will help them in pursuing their goals and becoming what they want to be in the future.

The NURFC was founded in the year 2004 and is a museum in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, based on the history of the Underground Railroad. Their mission is to reveal stories of freedom’s heroes, from the era of the Underground Railroad to contemporary times, challenging and inspiring everyone to take courageous steps of freedom today.
