The Northern Kentucky University Scholarships are routinely awarded to students who meet the eligibility criteria. It is not a pre-requisite to submit your test scores since these merit-based scholarships do not ask for it but some students may still provide them. It is desirable for the recipient of the awards to have academic excellence along with active participation in other co-curricular activities. The purpose of NKU is to instill in students the confidence to take over the world with the knowledge that they gain from their various programs.

Who May Be Eligible?
In order to avail of the scholarships, the applicant must be eligible for:
- A U.S. citizenship
- These scholarships are being offered to freshman students
- Degree-seeking students from both within and outside Kentucky
- Students with an excellent high school academic record of an average GPA of 2.5 and above
- Having a high SAT and ACT score shall be a plus point
How to Apply
Students have to apply their applications on the official university website after which an application fee of $40 has to be paid. Applicants need to use the Free Application for Financial Student Aid, the results of which are to be sent to the university for consideration of need-based financial assistance. It is not mandatory for the students to sit for the SAT or ACT except for the NKU Presidential Scholarship. In which case, the student should have a high school GPA of 3.75 or above and have a 34 Composite score on the ACT or 1490 on the SAT.

- Presidential Scholarship: Full tuition fees and an additional amount of $6000 to be awarded for students availing NKU Housing with an HS GPA average of 3.75+ and required ACT/SAT score
- Founders Scholarship: $6500 to be awarded to recipients with an HS GPA average of 3.95+
- Excellence Scholarship: $4500 to be awarded to recipients with an HS GPA average of 3.70-3.94
- Commonwealth Scholarship: $2000 to be awarded to recipients with an HS GPA average of 3.20-3.69
- Achiever’s Scholarship: $500 to be awarded to recipients with an HS GPA average of 2.60-3.19
Out-state Scholarships
- Presidential Scholarship: Full tuition fees and an additional amount of $6000 to be awarded for students availing NKU Housing with an HS GPA average of 3.75+ and required ACT/SAT score
- EDGE Plus: Students having a weighted HS GPA score of 3.70+ are eligible to attain the EDGE Award and a sum of $1000
- EDGE: Students with an unweighted HS GPA of 2.50+ are eligible to avail of the award of $9460
- Presidential Scholarship: Full tuition fees and an additional amount of $6000 to be awarded for students availing NKU Housing with an HS GPA average of 3.75+ and required ACT/SAT score
- Founders Scholarship: Students with a weighted HS GPA of 3.95+ are eligible to avail of the award of $1500
- Excellence Scholarship: Students with a weighted HS GPA of 3.70-3.94 are eligible to avail of the award of $1000
- Commonwealth Scholarship: Students with a weighted HS GPA of 3.20-3.69 are eligible to avail of the award of $500
- Achiever’s Scholarship: Students with a weighted HS GPA of 2.60-3.19 are eligible to avail of the award of $250
Application Deadline
The deadline for the application is set for February 15, 2021. Students should complete their applications and submit the necessary documents on or before February 15, 2021. Late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.
