The National Council for Eurasian and East European Research invites proposals for its Dissertation Completion Grant Program. This grant provides support to doctoral candidates in an advanced stage of dissertation work whose research concerns the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia on topics of relevance to current U.S. foreign policy.
The Dissertation Completion Grant supports doctoral candidates in an advanced stage of dissertation work whose research concerns the countries of Eastern Europe and Eurasia on topics of relevance to current U.S. foreign policy. The program provides considerable support to the students to complete their education and studies without worrying about the expenses. The motive of the grant is to encourage the students to do better in their academics and researches.
NCEEER was created in 1978 to develop and sustain long-term, high-quality programs for postdoctoral research on the social, political, economic, environmental, and historical development of Eurasia and Central and Eastern Europe. From broad, cross-cultural analyses to more focused studies of particular problems, NCEEER supports research projects that facilitate a mutually beneficial exchange of information between scholars and policy-makers and contribute to a better understanding of current developments and prospects in the post-communist countries of Europe and Eurasia. Among national research organizations, NCEEER is the largest provider of resources to U.S. scholars for postdoctoral research in the region.

- To qualify, applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in a U.S. institution, and have one year or less remaining to complete their dissertations. Please check the list of countries eligible.
How to Apply
Only the eligible candidates should apply for the grant. Fellows have two options to submit their proposals. Candidates can email the application form and associated files as a single zipped attachment to apply@nceeer.org. Write “DCG Application and your last name in the subject line. Or you can mail your documents via a post on the Attn: Anastasia Moore, 1828 L Street NW Suite 1200, Washington, DC 20036. The application form should be downloaded and completed with caution. No late applications will be entertained.
Supporting Documents
- A Curriculum Vitae of no more than two pages, single-spaced, 12-point font.
- An Abstract of the dissertation, no more than 1 page, single-spaced, 12- point font should be provided.
- A project proposal of no more than four pages (double-spaced, 12-point font), detailing the following information:
- The dissertation topic: its relevance to U.S. foreign policy, and its contribution to the academic field a timeline for the completion of the dissertation within the 9-12 month project period (to conclude no later than September 1, 2022).An estimated budget
- A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s advisor or chair of the dissertation committee. This is to be sent directly to NCEEER by the referee and must include the referee’s physical or digital signature.
Benefits
This grant provides a maximum award of $25,000. The Dissertation Completion Grant is supported by federal funds. Accordingly, grants are subject to Federal laws and regulations, including OMB Circulars A-21, A-110, A-122, A-128, and A-133. Grants are also subject to the availability of funds. This grant provides substantial support to the students in completing their research without any stress.
