Minority Affairs Committee’s Minority Scholarship Awards for College Students

For the academic year 2019-2020, applications are invited for the Minority Affairs Committee’s Minority Scholarship awards for college students. Funded education is recognized by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

Founded in 1908, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is a non-profit organization. They provide leadership to the chemical engineering profession, representing over 60,000 members in industry, education, and government.

Who May Eligible

An applicant must:

  • Applicants shall be required to be undergraduates in chemical engineering during the current academic year
  • Holders must be members of a minority group that is under-represented in chemical engineering, i.e., African-American, Hispanic, Native American, Alaskan Native, and Pacific Islander.
  • The AIChE Minority Award is presented to selected AIChE undergraduate student members annually.

How to Apply

A complete application for the 2019 AIChE Minority Scholarship Award will contain a copy of each of the following items. All applications are submitted online:

  • A completed application form submitted online.
  • A career essay not to exceed 300 words outlining immediate plans after graduation, areas of chemical engineering interest, and long-range career objectives
  • A résumé
  • Unofficial copy of student transcript
  • An EFC (Expected Family Contribution) provided in the electronic Student Aid Report (SAR) on FAFSA (The Free Application for Federal Student Aid) (Optional: A letter from the parent/guardian verifying financial need can also be included with the EFC in the SAR Report of FAFSA.
  • A letter of recommendation from

Benefit: The Award amount is 1,000 for students per year, renewal for next year until the student meets the eligibility requirements.
