Michael Birchenall was once the editor of a Mid-Atlantic magazine for the hospitality and foodservice industry. Michael Birchenall is also remembered as the man who gave immense support and encouragement to students who were looking to make a career in the foodservice industry. This Scholarship is available to high school seniors and current college students and is awarded to students pursuing culinary, food service, or hospitality-related programs.

Who May Be Eligible
To be eligible for this scholarship fund the aspiring candidate must be a Maryland resident.
- Applicants must be high school senior or college student.
- They can be a corporate instructor/Hospitality industry professional or pursuing hospitality-related coursework. The requirements are:
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (High School and College Students Only)
- A minimum of 400 hours documented industry experience (High School and College Students Only)
- A minimum of 1500 hours documented industry experience (Instructors, Teachers and Industry Applicants only)
