Get funding to work on challenging research topics at the occasion of Merck’s 350th anniversary!
Merck is all about science and technology. In celebrating its 350th anniversary, Merck offers a series of research grants to stimulate innovative research in challenging areas of future importance. They are looking for innovative research proposals from scientists worldwide.
The grant is open for researchers from around the world. The aim of the Research Grant is to create new sustainable partnerships with leading global science and technology players to work on breakthrough science and to generate valuable seeds for future business.
Merck intends to provide several research grants of up to EUR 350,000 per year for 3 years in various research areas with the option of extension or expansion. Top submitters will be invited to a Deep Dive workshop to further advance the proposals together with Merck scientists.
Who May Eligible:
To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:
- Researchers from around the world may apply for the grants.
- The research proposed for the grant must not:
- involve interventional clinical research
- involve the testing of competitors’ products

Rules:
Merck intends to offer research grants in the following 4 research areas:
– Healthy Lives/Drug Discovery
– Life Reimagined/Synthetic Biology
– Materials & Solutions
– Digitalization/Computing
Benefits:
- The amount of the grant(s) is EUR 350,000 annually for three years, or any other amount, or time that
will be determined based on the recommendation of the Committees. - The award may fund all or part of the proposed project and for all or part of the requested time period.
- Grants may be awarded on the basis of conditional milestones as contained in the Research Grant Agreement.
- Top submitters will be invited to a Deep Dive workshop to further advance the proposals together with Merck scientists. The deep dive workshop will include the decision on grant recipients.
- Merck will cover all travel and accommodation costs.
- Furthermore, grant winners may gain access to meaningful collaborations within Merck and all the resources and connections that this allows.
