Marge Christensen Gould Memorial Scholarship for High School Graduating Senior

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona has developed the Marge Christensen Gould Memorial Scholarship for high school graduating seniors of Catalina, Sunny side, Desert View, or Star Academic schools. The applicants applying for this scholarship must be accepted at an accredited not-for-profit college or university with having minimum GPA of 2.5. This scholarship is provided in the memory of Marge Christensen Gould, an educator, and coordinator for the LEARN program. Many were refugees or immigrants who were allowed to learn based on their abilities and treated as valued individuals. This scholarship provides an opportunity for the mentioned school students to learn and educate independently.

 Among all the applicants, one applicant will be selected as the winner and will get eligible for an award amount of $1,500. The amount will be used for the student’s educational purposes, such as tuition assistance, books and other supplies, and other related expenses. This will help them pursue their education independently and achieve their career and their goals. This will encourage and motivate students to stand on their own and build their future in the field of their choice.

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona was established in 1980 and is a non-governmental organization in Tucson, Arizona. Their purpose is to create an equitable and vibrant community for all Southern Arizonans by connecting donors to the causes they care about, now and forever.

Who is Eligible?

  • Applicant must be a Catalina, Sunny side, Desert View, or Star Academic High School graduating senior
  • Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5
  • Applicants must be accepted at an accredited not-for-profit college or university
  • No proof of citizenship, residency, or immigration status is required.

How to Apply?

The eligible applicants should fill out the application form and provide all the required documents. Students must provide all their personal information, personal essays such as people who have influenced them, meaningful experiences, personal aspirations, cultural experiences, extracurricular activities, school, or community events, by writing about what matters to them. Applicants should confidently write all these things and convey a strong sense of who they are in about 500 words. With this, applicants must attach two letters of recommendation from which one must be from a current or former teacher, a copy of unofficial high school transcripts, and a signed authorization (final page of the application) and those applicants who qualify for FAFSA or other financial aid should complete those applications in addition to this scholarships.
