2022 LWP $5000 Scholarship Package

The Annual LWP Scholarship Package provides half-financing scholarships for the Fall 2022 semester in honor of Louise W Pilgrim and the founding of LWP Life Academy. It is intended to aid students in realizing their desire to go to college. LWP Life Academy’s mission is to provide the community with support to develop a successful and self-sufficient young adult. The five scholarships included in the LWP Scholarship package will allow students to become the representation that is currently lacking in the sector. The scholarship committee selects recipients based on their academic achievements, leadership abilities, and commitment to community service. The following scholarships are available to high school seniors, undergraduates, vocational students, and trade school students. The value of this scholarship is Partial Funding, USD 5000, and it is granted by LWP. This scholarship is only available to citizens of the United States.

  • The Arthur L Salmon Law Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in Law
  • The Ralph Carter Art Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in the Arts
  • The Alice Mann Civics/ Community Service Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in Civic/ Community Service

In the Tennille Paredes Financial Literacy Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in Finance $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who is pursuing a degree in, or closely connected to, finance, with consideration given to applicants who promote financial literacy in their communities.

In the Joseph Branch Stem Award: Promoting Diversity in STEM, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student with a minimum 3.0 GPA who is pursuing a degree in, or closely connected to, finance, with consideration given to applicants who promote financial literacy in their communities. The following subjects are Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering; Biosciences/Pre-med/health-related fields; Chemical Engineering; Chemistry; Civil Engineering; Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences; Computer and Computational Sciences, including Statistics and Accounting; Electrical  Engineering; Geosciences; Information Sciences; Materials Science and Engineering; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering; Nuclear Engineering; Oceanography; Operations Research; Physics; Teaching in STEM areas.

In the  Arthur L Salmon Law Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in Law, the LWP Diversity aims to promote and support diversity in the legal field. This award of $5000 will assist current or aspiring law school students from a racial minority in paying their tuition and student debt.

In the Ralph Carter Art Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in the Arts, underrepresented student groups in the arts are supported, and diversity in the profession is promoted. Applicants must be African American, Native American, Hispanic, Latino, or Asian & Pacific Islander of at least one of the following ethnicities. This $5,000 scholarship will be given to a student who is pursuing a degree in, or closely linked to, the arts and has a minimum GPA of 3.0.

In the Alice Mann Civics/ Community Service Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in Civic/ Community Service $5,000 scholarship will be given to a student who is pursuing a civics-related degree at a recognized college or institution and has a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Tennille’s grandmother, Louise W Pilgrim, is the inspiration for LWP Life Academy. As many people have learned, it takes a village to raise a kid, and Louise was an important part of Tennille’s foundation. Tennille was driven to continue sharing the lessons she had learned and the challenges she had experienced in order to provide a space where youngsters may continue their education outside of the classroom. Especially those who require the assistance of a community of individuals dedicated to assisting them in achieving achievement and self-sufficiency.

Who May Be Eligible?

In the Tennille Paredes Financial Literacy Scholarship: Promoting Diversity, applicants must be citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States. As a student, you intend to be registered for full-time hours. According to the Department of Education website, you must be a high school senior or presently enrolled in an approved 2-4 year technical/vocational college, coding Bootcamp, or university in the United States. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required. Applicants that are actively involved in promoting financial literacy in their community will be given priority. You must be a member of an ethnic group that is underrepresented.

In the Joseph Branch Stem Award: Promoting Diversity, applicants need to be US citizens or legal permanent residents. They intend to be registered with full-time hours as a student. A high school senior or be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university (specifications vary each scholarship) with a minimum GPA score of 3.0. The applicants must belong to an underrepresented ethnic group.

In the  Arthur L Salmon Law Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in Law, applicants must be citizens of the United States or legal permanent residents of the United States. As a student, you intend to be registered for full-time hours. As defined by the Department of Education website, you must be a senior in high school or actively enrolled in an approved college or institution in the United States. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Must be a member of an ethnic group that is underrepresented.

In the Ralph Carter Art Scholarship: Promoting Diversity, the eligibility is the same as the above scholarships.

In the Alice Mann Civics/ Community Service Scholarship: Promoting Diversity in Civic/ Community Service, you must be a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States. As a student, you intend to be registered for full-time hours. As defined by the Department of Education website, you must be a senior in high school or actively enrolled in an approved college or institution in the United States. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Honor students who, like the award’s namesake, are dedicated to community service, unselfish acts of kindness, and a desire to improve the lives of others. School and community service will be considered, but other aspects will also be considered. Must be a member of an ethnic group that is underrepresented.

How to Apply?

Students who are eligible for the LWP Scholarship package will go through the following steps: Submit an online application with general demographic and contact information, educational background, and future professional goals. Submit a 2- to a 3-minute video in response to the prompt. Upload documents such as transcripts resumes, and letters of recommendation. Based on their submitted application, a member of the Scholarship Committee will make an initial selection of eligible applicants in May of 2022. From among the group of qualified applicants, the Scholarship Committee will make final selections for the scholarship. No later than June 1, 2022, will decisions be made. By September 1, 2022, the recipient must show acceptable documentation of full-time enrolment at a recognized institution.

Benefits

The five scholarships will benefit the applicants to pursue degrees in their desired sections. It will benefit them by covering up their tuition fees, books, and study material fees.
