In an effort of encouraging and recognize the poetic talent of young students, National Park Service is now administering an amazing Longfellow Student Poetry Contest 2021. High school, middle school, and elementary school students are invited to compete in this program.

Longfellow Student Poetry Contest 2021 is an annual competition with different categories for high school, middle school, and elementary school students. This contest is held each spring with the help of Frank Buda Memorial Fund, New England Poetry Club, Friends of the Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters, and Longfellow House-Washington’s Headquarters National Historic Site. The program brings various prizes for winners. These perks include a certificate, cash prize, and the opportunity to read their poem at a public award ceremony. By participating in this program, students can improve their skills of writing poetry, increase their confidence in their abilities as well as gain recognization. High school, middle school, and elementary school students are welcome to apply.

How to Apply

Candidates will have to complete an online application form with all right and complete information. Entry must be sent by a teacher or parent/guardian on behalf of the student poet if the applicant is a minor. Applicants must email their poem (typed, word document or PDF) to long_reservations@nps.gov by the application deadline.
