The Lincoln-Lane Foundation Scholarship

The Lincoln-Lane Foundation is thrilled to announce its Scholarship Program for the current year. The awards are available for every high school or college student who is a resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia or currently attending, a four-year college or university in the United States.

The grant is designed with a primary focus of assisting the students who are in need of funds to complete their further studies. The Foundation will be rewarding talented and hardworking applicants with a significant sum of amount to be utilized for their additional educational purposes.

The Lincoln-Lane Foundation was established in 1928 by Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Rodgers to enable deserving young men and women in the Norfolk Community to obtain a quality education. They have broadened their scope to include students from the Tidewater area of Virginia, and their grants are to allow recipients to pursue full-time study.

Who May Be Eligible?

To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:

  • Open to any high school or college student who is a resident of the Tidewater area of Virginia
  • Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident (A copy of Alien Registration Receipt Card: I-151, I-551 or I-551c)
  • Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need
  • Applying to, or currently attending, a four-year college or university in the United States

How to Apply

Eligible students are required to download an application form and provide a paper copy of the completed application with the required items listed below to the Foundation by mail. The Mailing address is 207 Granby Street, Suite 302, Norfolk VA 23510.

Supporting Documents

  • Must submit a completed Application for Financial Assistance.
  • Must provide two letters of recommendation
  • Must mention a small photograph taken within the past twelve months.
  • Must write and submit an essay in your handwriting on the following topic: “Describe a situation that allowed you to display your character in a positive way or an incident you wish you had handled differently.” (Do not write on the back of the paper.)
  • Must provide a copy of parent(s)’ the prior year 1040 federal tax return with schedules.
  • Must submit an official transcript of your scholastic record, with SAT/ACT scores,
  • A personal interview with at least two directors of the Foundation may be required.
  • A copy of the FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR) must be sent to the Foundation when available

Benefits

The Lincoln-Lane Foundation will provide a scholarship award that is tentative at that time and may be subject to change depending on other scholarship assistance and the student’s need. The scholar will get full financial support to cover up many of his/her expenses related to their studies.

Application Deadline

The complete application packet must be postmarked by November 15.
