Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union Scholarship

Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union is concerned about students’ financial needs. Hudson County School Employees Federal Credit Union was started on March 1, 1951, by the late William and Catherine Miller. They were both employed by the Jersey City, public school. While William and Catherine were writing his doctoral thesis on the history of the credit union movement at New York University, Bill was advised by his close friend Thomas’ Cork’ Corcoran to put his academic to use and start a credit union by himself.

Who May Be Eligible

Eligibility criteria for the scholarship are mentioned below. Please check:

  • The applicant must be a member in good standing of a 2020/2021 Scholarship Program.
  • Applicants must be participating in the credit union to be eligible for the scholarship.
  • Candidates must be enrolled as high school seniors at the time of the application.
  • Scholarship funds must be used for tuition fees only at an accredited educational institution (community college, 4-year college, university, or technical/vocational school).

How to Apply 

The application must be emailed to Liberty Savings Federal Credit Union before the deadline with all the supporting documents. If any portion of the application is incomplete or not included, the applicant will be disqualified. Students are requested to follow the deadlines strictly. Late submissions will be reelected.

Supporting Documents 

  • Applicants must submit an official high school transcript, including a cumulative GPA and completed marking periods as of the date of submission. If transcripts are not available, high school senior year report cards are acceptable.
  • Candidates must have a cumulative GPA of non-weighted on a 4.0 scale.
  • Submit the completed Teacher Reference portion of the application.
