LeBlanc/Baker Scholarship for High School Graduates

UNCF is providing the Leblanc/Baker Scholarship for change to the African American males, who are graduating high school seniors, planning to attend an accredited four-year HBCU in the Fall of 2021 with preference given to District of Columbia Public School students. To be eligible, the candidate should have a minimum of 2.0 GPA on a 4.0-grade scale, but should not exceed 3.0 GPA. The candidate needs to fill the online application form and submit a few documents such as an official transcript, letter of recommendation, and one-page personal statement describing an obstacle faced in life and why obtaining a college degree is important. All US citizens, US national or permanent male residents can apply. The last date to submit your application form is June 1, 2021. No applications received after the due date will be valid.

Who May Be Eligible?

To be eligible for the scholarship, the candidates must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Be a black African/American male,
  2. Have a cumulative of 2.0 to 3.0 GPA on a 4.0-grade scale. Students having more than a 3.0 GPA are not eligible.
  3. Be a current high school senior planning to enroll full-time at any UNCF member institution or other accredited four-year HBCU commencing Fall 2021.

Note: Preference shall be given to candidates who are graduating seniors of Washington, DC Public Schools.

How to Apply?

For applying, the candidates should submit the stated documents:

  1. Submit the online application
  2. Letter of recommendation
  3. Current transcript
  4. One-page personal statement describing an obstacle faced in life and why obtaining a college degree is important.
  5. Annually complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate unmet need as verified by the financial aid office of their attending college or university.
