The Los Angeles Kids for Change offers a scholarship program to high school juniors, seniors, or first-year undergraduates who come from a background of foster care, who are in or recently out of the foster care system. The program is specially designed to help those students who are or were part of the foster care system and experienced a lack of financial resources and mentors. On the educational journey, students that belong to this background have faced difficulties with navigating college applications and financial aid and were often at a disadvantage when they begin applying to colleges, so this program provides them an excellent opportunity to continue their studies and gain financial aid.
The students will get eligible for awards based on their application and their essay, where they will describe their experience in foster care and their plans to pay back the system. Two winners will be chosen, and each will be awarded $500. The award amount will be used entirely to manage the student’s educational expenses such as tuition assistance, books, other supplies, transportation, and other related. This will provide the students with economic support to continue their education in the field of their choice.
The LA Foster kids for change was started in 2019 on a mission to educate, empower, and better the young lives in the foster system of Los Angeles. The scholarship is provided to support the student in the Los Angeles foster system and see them achieve their academic goals.

Benefits
The winners for this scholarship will be selected based on their application, essay, and answers to the questions. Two winners will be selected for awards and receive $500 (each). The amount will be utilized for the student’s educational purposes and to manage their education-related expenses such as tuition assistance, books, other supplies, and other related expenses. This will help students to pursue their education, as foster care students have already faced difficulties with navigating college applications and financial aid; this will be a good opportunity for them to pursue higher education with less financial concern.
