Kreager Family Scholarship for Kalamazoo County Residents

Kalamazoo Community Foundation is here to present you with a scholarship opportunity to get a chance to an amazing award worth $2,500. The grant was set up in 2001 by the Kreager family to give monetary help to school destined graduating secondary school seniors that have experienced the passing of a parent or guardians through death or relinquishment after infancy. The foundation understands and values the struggles one has to face after they encounter a loss of their loved one; therefore, this scholarship aims at empowering such students and giving them a chance to bring in some funds to cover their instructive costs. The final recipients will be awarded a grant of up to $2,500, and more than one grant might be granted.

With regards to eligibility, any graduating secondary school senior who is a Kalamazoo County inhabitant or goes to a secondary school inside Kalamazoo County; or a graduating secondary school senior who is taken on South Haven High School; wanting to go to a certified educational institution for professional/specialized training or a two-or four-year degree either part or full time. The candidate to be eligible must have experienced the passing of a parent or guardians through death or relinquishment after infancy. The candidate must also provide a statement of monetary need as indicated by the FAFSA; preference might be given to graduating secondary school seniors from Gull Lake and South Haven High Schools; however, this isn’t a prerequisite to apply.

Kalamazoo Community Foundation was set up in 1925 with an endowment of $1,000 from one couple, W.E. and Carrie (“Carol”) Upjohn. Who is Eligible?

The eligibility criteria for the following scholarship are as follows:

  • Graduating high school senior who is a Kalamazoo County resident or attends a high school within Kalamazoo County, or a graduating high school senior who is enrolled in South Haven High School; planning to attend an accredited institution for vocational/technical training or a two- or four-year degree either part or full time.
  •  Must have suffered the loss of a parent or parents through death or abandonment after infancy.
  • Demonstration of financial need according to the FAFSA; Preference may be given to graduating high school seniors from Gull Lake and South Haven High Schools, but this is not a requirement to apply.
