The Simmons University is delighted to announce the Gilbert and Marcia Kotzen Scholars Program. This grant is open for the freshman student for the fall semester that has a record of taking honors, advanced placement (AP), and international baccalaureate (IB) courses.
The award program is a competitive merit award and it aims to recognize and supports the brightest students who want to take education at Simmons University for the academic year 2020-21. The beneficiary will be granted enormous funds to cover their various educational expenses.
Simmons University is a nationally recognized individual university. The university was established in 1899 by John Simmons, is a private woman-focused undergraduate college and private co-educational graduate school in Boston, in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Who May Be Eligible?
To eligible for the scholarship, the candidates must be following the eligibility criteria:
- Aspirants must apply as a freshman student for the fall semester
- An equalized test score of 28 or higher (ACT), 1300 or higher (new SAT) or 1250 or higher (old SAT – CR+M). At least 600 in each SAT section is mandatory.
- Non-native English speakers must submit their TOEFL and SAT or ACT scores
- Students must maintain their GPA of 3.3 or more
- College preparatory curriculum plus an advanced level math course during, or before, your senior year of high school
- Aspirants must have a record of taking honors, advanced placement (AP) and international baccalaureate (IB) courses, as available in their high school systems

All the eligible students should submit their essays in PDF or Word Doc by email at ugadm@simmons.edu with the subject line of “Kotzen Application,” and also include their full name and date of birth on each page of the document.
Supporting Documents
- Applicants need to submit a Short Answer of no more than 250 words on the topic that: How would you use your additional annual award of $3,000 (for study abroad, short-term courses, summer internship tuition, or research support)?
- Students must submit a Formal Essay of no more than 500 words on the topic that: Some people argue that leaders are born, not made, while others defend the opposite view, namely that leaders are “made.”
Benefits
The scholarship is awarded for four years of full-time undergraduate study, which will cover full tuition fees, mandatory fees, and room and board for a successful student. The recipient will get an additional annual award of $3000 for study abroad, short-term courses, summer internship tuition, or research support.
Application Deadline
Students must complete and submit both their scholarship application and their admission application to the University by the deadline of December 1.
