The KOKUYO is accepting applications for the 2022 KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD. It is an international product design competition that’s all about imagining and creating the future together. It gathers proposals from all around the world and turns outstanding entries into commercial products. Through the design of things that are familiar to all, the following competition aims to give form to the possibilities of design and the power of products. The theme of the following design award is “UNLEARNING”.
The following contest is open to all. It accepts entries from any corporation, individual, or group that fulfills all the asked requirements, regardless of their age, sex, occupation, or nationality. The final judgment of the winner will be passed and announced after the presentation given by the candidate at the award ceremony which will be held on March 12, 2022, in Tokyo. Winners will be posted on the KOKUYO DESIGN AWARD website after the conclusion of the official announcements. The winners will be awarded cash prizes along with some special prizes. The prize money will be paid net of withholding tax, surtax for reconstruction funding, and other applicable deductions.

Who Is Eligible?
The competition accepts entries from any corporation, individual, or group that fulfills all the following requirements, regardless of their age, sex, occupation, or nationality.
1. Persons who can give a presentation at the final judging (March 12, 2022).
The contest organizer will pay expenses incurred by participants for travel and lodging
(up to two individuals for group entries).
2. Persons who consent to these Rules.
In cases when an entrant is a minor, the consent of their parent or other statutory agent is required.
How To Apply?
The interested individuals are required to submit their product design on the theme described on the scholarship portal. You can submit as many submissions as you want but make sure that they all are original.
The designs can be submitted following the below-given steps:

Benefits
All the submissions will be reviewed and judged based on the following:
- The design’s interpretation of the theme
- The design’s level of completion
- The design’s potential to become a product
Out of all, one most deserving candidate will be chosen as the grand prize winner and be awarded an amount up to $18,000. Additionally, there will be three merit winners who will be given the award amount up to $5,400.

The deadline for design submission for the following award is October 15, 2021. No submissions will be considered after the deadline.
