Who May Eligible

  • Applications to Knight-Hennessy Scholars from citizens of all countries.
  • Applicants must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a college or university of recognized standing.
  • Applicants must apply to one of Stanford University’s graduate programs. Priority is given to applicants who apply for programs lasting more than one year.
  • Scholars will be from the U.S., and about two thirds will be from countries outside the U.S. Those numbers will fluctuate from year to year
  • Applicants must meet the requirements of the Stanford graduate program(s) to which they are applying, must apply for admission to their department and take any standardized tests (GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.) required.

How to Apply

To be eligible for graduate study, candidates must complete and submit the online application for admission.

  • Applicants must submit all Knight-Hennessy Scholars application materials in English such as personal and academic information, etc.
  • Prepare a one-page resumé
  • Scan and upload transcripts of your academic performance
  • Standardized test scores
  • Recommendation letters
  • Short-answer responses
  • Essays
  • Video supplement
  • In-person assessment 

Benefit: The Stanford education of Knight-Hennessy Scholars is fully funded. The Scholars program funds up to the first three years of your graduate education, and if your degree program exceeds three years — such as an MD or Ph.D. program, or a Stanford dual- or joint-degree program

Application Deadline: The application for entry in autumn 2020 is due October 10, 2019.
