The Kevin Child Scholarship is awarded annually to an exceptional student in the memory of Kevin Child. Born in the 1960s with hemophilia, Kevin had to face various challenges in his childhood. He died in 1989, few days before his graduation, due to aids-related complications. Through this scholarship, National Hemophilia Foundation aims to help those students who are diagnosed with the disease. Since Hemophilia already brings many challenges in an individual’s life at a young age, the opportunity to attain higher education should not become an obstacle. Therefore, high school or college graduates willing to get their post-graduation degree can apply for the scholarship. The deadline extends to June 19, 2021.
The Kevin Child Scholarship presents an award amount of $1000 to one candidate every year. The award can prove to be an enormous amount to fund your education. Any disease can’t bar you from getting the best education. All children are exceptional in themselves. This scholarship provides you with the opportunity to study in your dream college and achieve your goals. Also, it will be helpful to reduce the burden of your education from your family. You should apply for the scholarship.
National Hemophilia Foundation was founded in 1948 by Robert and Betty Jane Henry, parents of a young boy with Hemophilia. When their son, Lee, was born, the only treatment for hemophilia was blood transfusions. The life expectancy was around 24 years. However, the Henrys were determined to do everything to make their son’s life better. With no organizations helping them, they decided to create what he and the other families needed. And this way, the Hemophilia Foundation was started. The foundation is dedicated to finding cures for inheritable blood disorders and addressing and preventing the complications of these disorders through research, education, and advocacy, enabling people and families to thrive.
