Journalist of the Year Scholarships

Journalism Education Association (JEA) is pleased to announce the Journalist of the Year Scholarships. The scholarship funds $3,000 for the top winner, and $850 each for runners-up (up to six runners-up awards are usually given) are released to the student after the winners are announced.

Ed Bradley Journalism Scholarship

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) is now offering the Ed Bradley Scholarship. Students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded, pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism. The recipient of the Ed Bradley Scholarship will receive $10,000 and an invitation to the Excellence in Journalism conference.

Journalism Scholarships

NAHJ scholarships

NAHJ scholarship opportunities are open to college-bound high school seniors, college undergraduates and graduate students pursuing careers in English or Spanish-language print, broadcast, digital or photojournalism. Students attending four-year colleges and community colleges in the United States and Puerto Rico are eligible for the scholarships, which range from $1,500 – $5,000.

Mike Reynolds Scholarship

RTDNA Organization is pleased to announce the Mike Reynolds Scholarship.  The program is open to students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded, pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism. The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation Scholarship for the Advancement of Women in Sports & Entertainment is intended for eligible college undergraduate and graduate school women who desire to work and contribute their efforts within the field.  To apply, applicants are required to be enrolled in one of the following majors in order to be eligible: Communication Studies, Marketing, Public Relations, Media Studies or Journalism. The scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is granted to four applicants annually.

Each year, the RTDNA Organization is pleased to offer two awards in honor of former RTDNA Presidents. Students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded, pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism, are eligible to apply. The recipients will each receive $1,000 and an invitation to the Excellence in Journalism conference.

The Knight Science Journalism Fellowship Program

The Knight Science Journalism Fellowship Program at MIT supports a global community of dedicated and thoughtful journalists specializing in science, health, technology and environmental reporting. KSJ@MIT is designed to recognize journalists who demonstrate a high level of professional excellence and accomplishment as well as a long-term commitment to their craft. Full-time journalists, whether on staff or freelance from all countries compete on an equal basis and are encouraged to apply.

Knight-Wallace Fellowship

At Wallace House at the University of Michigan, a Knight-Wallace Fellowship recognizes accomplished, mid-career journalists who are eager for growth and deeply committed to the future of journalism. Each year they select up to 20 Fellows for a life-changing experience. Qualified applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience and be currently working in some aspect of journalism for a news organization or as an independent journalist. All tuition and course fees are paid for by the fellowship. All fellowship trips – domestic and international – are covered.

Journalism Scholarships

The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism

The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Center for Business Journalism, an initiative of the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism, began offering Fellowships to accomplished business journalists. The program is open to anyone with at least five years professional experience in journalism. Freelance journalists, as well as reporters and editors currently working at a news organization, may apply. Applications will generally be accepted twice a year. Typically, we’ll award grants up to $5,000 a month for one to three months

San Diego Press Club Foundation Journalism Scholarship

The San Diego Press Club Foundation is pleased to announce the Journalism Scholarship to an applicant who intends to pursue a career in journalism. Applicants must be accepted for admission and attending as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student during the 2017-2018 academic year. Two scholarships will be given: a $1500 award to a community college student and a $2500 award to a four-year university or college student.
