The John T. Gosling Endowed Fellowship

Applications are currently open for the John T. Gosling Endowed Fellowship program conducted by the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) for the year 2020. The students who will be able to enjoy the benefits are graduate students with an interest in the study of study solar-terrestrial physics and/or space plasma physics.

The program is created with a vision of supporting and motivating students in the related fields. The beneficiaries of the award will get sufficient funds needed to accomplish their higher and quality education without having any kind of financial barriers.

LASP’s vision is to maintain world-leadership status in identifying and addressing key questions in planetary science, space physics, solar influences, and atmospheric science. The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University Of Colorado Boulder (CU) began in 1948, a decade before NASA.  We are the world’s only research institute to have sent instruments to all eight planets and Pluto.

Who May Be Eligible?

To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must be graduate students
  • Applicants must demonstrate an intention to study solar-terrestrial physics and/or space plasma physics including the study of the Sun, the study of the solar wind, the study of the Sun-Earth connection, and the study of the solar wind’s interaction with planetary magnetospheres.

How to Apply

The CU faculty are encouraged to provide a one-page description of the prospective recipient’s academic background and what projects the candidate will (or might be) working on at CU, electronically via email to scholarships@lasp.colorado.edu.

Rules

Students are asked to submit their complete information along with the required documentation to get considered for the award.

Benefits

Two fellowships of award amount $2,000 will be rewarded to graduate students having an intention to study solar-terrestrial physics and/or space plasma physics. The recipients of the program will get to attain more valuable information in their related field and also funds to cover up their educational purposes.
