The Jim Hallihan Character Legacy Scholarship was created in the memory of Jim Hallihan for those high school seniors who performs his character and beliefs. He believed that good character was even more important than grades, success in sports, or excelling in other talents. The scholarship will allow students to share their experiences and the challenges they have come across in their lives where their character was tested, and they prevailed with good decisions and caring actions.
The students who participated in this contest will be selected based on the experiences and stories they narrate, focusing on community service, volunteering, and other related factors. The winner chosen will be awarded $1,000-$2,500; among all the applications, two will be selected for awards, and each will be awarded separately with the mentioned amount. The amount will help students pursue their education and fulfill their education-related expenses through this scholarship. They can manage their tuition assistance, books, other materials, etc. This will lead them to achieve their goals and succeed.
The scholarship program is being provided by the Family of famous Basketball player Jim Hallihan who believed in good character than any other talent one should have. This program is conducted in the memory of him as a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, coach, and friend on the occasion of his 77th Birth Anniversary and by his beloved family as he believed in mentoring young people and often talked about the biblical principle of how challenges in life create perseverance which builds character and leads to hope.

How to Apply?
The students who are interested and consider themselves eligible for awards should fill up all the details asked to proceed for the application and should describe their life experiences and challenges they have come across and battled it with good decisions and caring actions; students should share their thoughts and feelings while facing those situations. All participants can enter into this program through the Google Form provided below.
Benefits
The participants who will get selected for the awards based on their described experiences and stories they narrated, the points which will be considered as focal points are the community service, volunteering, involvement in religious organizations and schools, and reference of good character. Among the applications, one recipient will be chosen from a Lowa high school to honor Jim’s work with youth I Lowa. Another recipient will be chosen from Decatur, Illinois, high school to honor his hometown. The selected two applicants will receive $1,000-$2,500 each. The amount will help students pursue their education and achieve their career goals without having more concern about the required assessment to seek higher education. This will also help students know Jim Hallihan and his character and work and adapt the same ethics in their lives he walked on.
The selected applicants will be notified by May 02, 2022.

The interested and eligible applicants should start filling their entries to benefit from this scholarship program before March 31, 2022. Delayed entries will not be accepted for this program and will lead to disqualification.
