James A. Turner, Jr. Memorial Scholarship for Undergraduates

To honor the memory of James A. Turner and help develop the new generation of leaders in the field of business, the American Welding Society has established a wonderful funding program. This scholarship has been launched to provide financial assistance to those individuals interested in pursuing a management career in welding store operations or a welding distributorship. For this unique financial aid scheme, one full-time student who demonstrates a willingness to work in the welding industry and is currently enrolled in a minimum four-year bachelor of business degree program will be selected to get benefited from this offer. Moreover, applicants must be of a minimum of eighteen years of age and hold a minimum high school diploma.

Students from around the United States are welcome to become a part of this program. The best of this scholarship is that there is no need to be a member of this organization to participate. Any student, whether a member or not, can take part and draw needed financial support. This scholarship will motivate learners to consider becoming a part of the welding industry by supporting their educational and career goals. This is an annual scholarship worth $3,500 that can be utilized to pay for their educational expenses and buy the study material. Applicants will be selected by the Named Scholarship Selection Committee that includes five members. The selection committee will choose award recipients in February of each year. Winners will be announced at the National Awards Luncheon.

Who is Eligible?

Candidates will have to meet the following requirements before they process with the application process:

  • Applicant must be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
  • Applicant must have a minimum high school diploma.
  • Applicant must be employed (at least 10 hours a week) at a welding distributorship at the time this application is submitted.
  • Applicants must submit all required application information.
  • Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and be granted the award for a maximum of four years.
