Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival is an art festival started in 1972 by a group of art patrons. The purpose of those patrons behind starting such festival was to expand the gathering of local artists displaying their artwork in the downtown area. The festival was named Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival by News Journal editor J. Earle Bowden to give this festival a regional identity.

Competition is open to artists 18 years old and older.
How to Apply
To participate in this program, candidates need to prepare their artwork taking the following guidelines into consideration. They can mail it to Duncan Mccall Advertising, 4400 Bayou Boulevard, Suite 11, Pensacola, Florida 32503.
- All entries must be a minimum size of 14″ x 24″ and no more than 24″ x 36″. Designs with a height roughly 1.5 times the width are preferred. The design must include the name Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, Pensacola, Florida, and the year; however, we do not require these elements to be included in the submission as long as they can be added if the design is selected.
- Each entry should be an original design that has not been reproduced previously.
- Designs cannot be submitted digitally. Designs created digitally must be available in a high-resolution format if selected.
- Each entry must include the artist’s name, address, email, and telephone number adhered to the entry’s back. No more than three designs per artist may be submitted.
Benefits
The artists will receive a $1,000 cash award that they can use to meet their personal or educational expenses. There is no restriction on the use of the award amount. This cash prize is a sort of motivational push for those emerging artists who are finding a platform to showcase their talent and expand it.
