Each year the Music Department awards close to 100 music scholarships. Eligibility Criteria
Gonzaga’s Music Scholarships are open to instrumental and vocal students, regardless of major. These scholarships, renewable for up to four years, extend beyond financial aid and are bestowed upon those who exhibit musical prowess. Vocal scholarships, such as the Lyle W. Moore Choral Scholarship, are merit-based, requiring no specific major.
Scholarship Details
For Music Scholarships, students are expected to be part of performing ensembles, enrolling in Applied Lessons and a Performance Ensemble each semester. Those aspiring to major in music must declare it, take Music Theory I & II in their first year, and participate in Applied Lessons and a Major Performance Ensemble each semester.
The Lyle W. Moore Choral Scholarship, a gem among vocal scholarships, rewards four incoming students annually with $5,000 per year for four years. This merit-based scholarship acknowledges both musical excellence and academic success, and importantly, recipients need not be music majors.
Application Process
To embark on this melodic journey, aspiring scholars need to complete the Scholarship Audition Application by the deadline on February 12, 2024. Auditions and applications received by this date are guaranteed consideration for the 2024-25 academic year.
