Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the GLORIA Great Basin Peak Opportunity Fellowships, applicants must:

  • Be upper-division undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Demonstrate an interest in global change and conservation in mountainous regions.
  • Be available for the entire field-survey dates on White Mountain Peak (Inyo National Forest, Big Pine, California) from July 15th to 21st, 2024.
  • Self-identify along one or more of the following axes of diversity:
    • First-generation college student or from an economically disadvantaged background.
    • Member of historically excluded ethnic or racial groups in graduate education and STEM, including but not limited to Black, Indigenous, and Latine/Latinx individuals.
    • Individuals managing disabilities, identifying as LGBTQ+, military veterans, holders of DACA, TPS, refugee, or asylee status, and single parents.

Benefits

Selected fellows will receive comprehensive support, including:

  • Transportation to the field site.
  • Field gear.
  • Room and board.
  • Wages totaling up to $2,500 per student.
  • Mentorship opportunities, providing guidance on networking and job applications.
