Global First Responders Scholarship

The First Responders Children’s Foundation is pleased to offer a Global First Responders Scholarship. This program is available for children of first responders who either died or became permanently disabled in the line of duty.

The GFFFR mission is to support the families of first responders who lost their lives saving others in the line of duty. These awards recognize the financial need with academic qualifications and overall achievement.

Who May Eligible

  • Applicant must the child (biological, adopted or step-child) of a first responder.
  • An applicant who is the child of the deceased first responder, his death must have been done before the death of the eligible or total eligible responder or before the total and permanent disability.
  • Candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student during the entire academic year.
  • Candidates should make satisfactory academic progress towards the completion of their program as defined and documented by the educational institution.
  • Candidate must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States attending school in the United States.
  • Candidate must maintain a 2.7 out of a 4.0-grade point average, or the equivalent as documented by the Office of the Registrar at the academic institution.
  • Candidates must be pursuing their first Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or Certificate at any accredited college, university or technical/vocational institution in the United States that participates in the federal financial aid programs offered through the U.S. Department of Education.

To apply for this scholarship, students must be apply online OR download and print the complete application form and submit by email with all required supporting documents.

Benefit

  • The award is available annually to an incoming freshman who is the child of a first responder who was killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty.
  • The annual award will be distributed in two (2) equal payments – for a fall semester and for the second spring semester.
  • The scholarship is a $20,000 award over a four year period ($5,000 per year) contingent upon the recipient maintaining all applicant eligibility requirements during the four years of the award.
  • The program is based on financial need as well as academic merit and other achievements including demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to service in the community.
