The Gems of Hope has decided to provide scholarships to the students who are high school seniors and their lives affected by cancer. The program provides an opportunity for those students who have been personally affected by cancer or has been previously diagnosed or any of their family member such as sibling, mother, father, etc. Cancer is a battle and is hard to fight without affecting education, so this opportunity will be a small step to help those affected and burdened by economic obstacles to pursue education.
The applicants will be selected based on their essay, which will describe their situation and their financial need to pursue education. The program provides multiple scholarships worth $1,500, which will be given to each selected applicant. This will be used for their education-related expenses such as tuition fees, books, room, and other related expenditures. The amount will help them focus on their studies while fighting against the disease and will lessen their burden of education-related finances to seek their education.
The Gems of Hope was founded in July 2005 to share hope with others. Their mission and vision are to bring hope to cancer patients and their families while battling against the disease and to provide them support and resources to inspire hope, creating the outlook that hope is always present in a cancer diagnosis.
