The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has announced an Art Contest for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. In this contest, students have to draw a picture of Georgia’s bird on paper. This contest is for the students to use their creativity and imagination to picture a beautiful bird of Georgia.
The student artwork will be selected from each age category such as pre K to 2nd grade, 3rd to 5th grade, 6th to 8th grade, 9th to 12th grade and the gift prize will be a $100 amazon gift card as well as their artwork will appear on 2022 Youth birding Competition T-shirt for the grand prize winner. Three other winners will receive a $50 amazon gift prize winner. This will bring out the student’s creativity, artwork and will also let them know about Georgia’s wildlife and birds living in it.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is an Administrative agency of the United States, and it is responsible for managing and conserving Georgia’s natural, cultural, and historical resources. The mission of this organization is to promote the development of commerce and industry that utilize sound environmental practices and works for enhancement, sustainability, protection, and conservation.

How to Apply?
The students who want to participate in this contest should make a hand-drawn artwork that pictures Georgia’s native bird using their creativity and visualization. Students should make sure that their artwork is original and not copied from anywhere; the picture must be of a native bird of Georgia. Participants should look at the features of the bird, as the picture will be printed on t-shirts, so students should focus more on the bird; also, they should choose perfect color schemes or colors by keeping in mind how it will look on T-shirts. The artwork should be emailed to the below-provided address, and it must include the student’s name, school, age, grade level, the city where the applicant lives, contact no, email address, and the species name of bird they have drawn.
Students may include species stated below:
Anna’s hummingbird, barn owl, blue grosbeak, blue jay, blue-gray gnatcatcher, Carolina chickadee, great blue heron, great horned owl, osprey, peregrine falcon, red-breasted nuthatch, yellow-breasted chat, loggerhead shrike, and yellow-rumped warbler.
Some rules to be remembered:
- Although participation in the 2022 Youth Birding Competition (YBC) on April 22-23 is encouraged, it is not required to submit artwork.
- Only one entry per person is allowed
- Submission must be the child’s original work
- Tracing and computer-generated artwork are not allowed.
- Artwork must be at least 8*10” but no more significant than 11*17” in size and on paper or sheet canvas (no frames). Artwork must keep flat when photographing
The participants in this contest will be selected based on their artwork. From all the grade categories, a winner will be selected, and among them, a grand winner will be selected and awarded a $100 amazon gift card, and the other three will be awarded a $50 amazon gift card. With this, their artwork will be printed on the 2022 Youth Birding Competition T-shirt. These contests will motivate children to use their creativity and art to make beautiful artwork. Also, the prizes will cheer them up to do even better. This will also let me know and understand the newspaper and how it all works and introduce to Georgia’s native birds.
The participants who want to apply for this contest should complete their artwork and send it on provided email id no later than March 15, 2022. Latecomers will not be accepted and will also be disqualified from the contest.
