The Air Force Aid Society has announced to offer a grant named General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant for high school graduates who are enrolled or accepted as full-time undergraduate students in an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school approved by the U.S. Department of education. Students must be dependent sons and daughters of U.S. Air Force and Space Force members in different categories or spouses of the active-duty Air force and space force or surviving spouses of Air and Space Force of US who died while on active duty or in retired status. The program provides the opportunity to students in education.
The applications will be evaluated for awards based on their application, financial need, and other factors. Selected applicants will get eligible for awards and receive award amounts ranging from $500-$4,000. The amount will be used for the recipient’s educational purposes and in managing the financial challenges that come in their way to seek higher education. This will be helpful for students as they will get assisted with their requirements to pursue their higher education.
The AFAS was founded in 1942 and is a private non-profit organization and the official charity of the United States Air Force. Their mission is to help relieve the financial distress of Air Force members and their families and assist them in financing their higher education goals. This scholarship program is one of the steps taken to complete their mission.

Who is Eligible?
Applicant must fit in one of the three criteria:
- Dependent sons and daughters of U.S. Air Force and Space Force members in one of the below categories:
- Active Duty, Title 10 reservists on extended active duty, and the Title 32 Guard is performing full-time active duty. All members must be on active duty through December 01 of the academic year
- Retired due to length of active duty service or disability, or retired AGR/Reserve with 20+ satisfactory service years creditable for retired pay and placed on the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force Reserve Retired List (no other retired classifications are considered eligible)
- Deceased while on active duty or in retired status
- Spouses of active-duty U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force members and Title 10 AGR/Reserve on extended active duty. Member’s active duty must extend through December 1 of the academic year to be awarded. To be eligible, a spouse must be legally married to the member (not separated or pending divorce) at the time of application and disbursement of award
- Surviving spouses of US Air Force and US Space Force members who died while on active duty or in retired status
- Will be a high school graduate enrolled or accepted as a full-time undergraduate student in the upcoming academic year
*Students enrolled exclusively in distance education courses should check with their school officials to verify their enrollment meets their school’s full-time status requirements - Will be enrolled or accepted in an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school approved by the U.S. Department of Education for participation in federal aid programs
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale

How to Apply?
Eligible students should get themselves registered and create an account on the AFAS official portal; with the application, students must attach a front and back copy of the student’s military ID card, copy of sponsoring member’s qualifying documentation, copy of the most recent transcript, copy of full Student Aid Report (SAR) generated from free application for FAFSA, and students applying as the 5th year undergraduate must provide verification of enrollment in the five year degree program. Benefits
Students will be selected for awards based on their application, answers to the questions asked by them, and financial needs based on grant selection which is based on the cost of attendance at student’s chosen college and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) entered on Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA. Selected applicants will receive amounts ranging from $500-$5,000, which will be used for the student’s educational purposes and manage the expenses required to seek education in the field of their choice. Students will be able to achieve their career and educational objectives.
Application Deadline
All applicants who are eligible for this program should get themselves registered and provide the required materials and submit them to the official portal prior to the deadline of April 30, 2022. Applications received after this date will be considered ineligible.
