Friends of Forest Preserves has organized its 14th annual photography contest for all people who love photography. This contest welcomes the photographers to manifest the value and beauty of forest preserves in Cook. All professionals and beginners can take part in this contest which pictures the life and preserve scenery, plants, wildlife, recreation, or education from all range of seasons, background, environment, and themes. Photography pictures of preserves will be more fascinating. People can send photographs of their photography or on behalf of someone who is 18 or younger as this is an activity of family and also an educational opportunity, and this categorizes as ‘Best Youth Photographer’ to encourage their creativity and curiosity.
The best always gets appreciation, so the best photographs which will capture the preserves and their beauty will get selected for exciting prizes. The first-place winner will get a prize worth $350, and all the other prizes such as 2nd place, 3rd place, and the best categories (ex. Fauna, Flora, Landscape, people, best youth photographer, etc.) will be awarded $100 each. Also, who has not been awarded but their work is worth praising, then they will get an honorable mention that worth $100 each.
Friends of Forest Preserve was founded in 1998 by a small group of concerned citizens and is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to protect, promote, and care for the landscapes, plants, wildlife, and all forest preserves in Cook country located in 70,000 acres. Friends community works together to ensure that the land, water, and life will always thrive in the forest preserves.

How to Apply?
The contestants who love photography and features forest preserves should send their entries via mail using the subject line as ‘2022 Photo Contest’. Follow the below rules to enter this contest:
- Photos must be taken in a forest preserve in Cook country, Illinois.
- Maximum five photographs may enter by each photographer
- Each photo name should include a title (if desired), descriptors such as the species photographed (if known), the location where the photo was taken (forest preserve and town), and the photographer’s name.
Ex. “’ Motherhood’ mergansers at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village by Can Divit.
Note: photographs that are not submitted in this way may be disqualified
- Photographers consent to allowing Friends to use their photos on friends’ websites, across social media, in publications, and other materials. Friends will not share photos with other entities unless permission is granted in advance by the photographer.
- Photos must be submitted with high-resolution JPG/JPEG files.

The contests with the best photographs featuring forest preserves will get selected for winning prizes. The best photograph’s 1st place winner will receive $350, and other prizes such as 2nd, 3rd, and the best of categories (ex. Fauna, flora, Landscape, people, best youth photographer, etc.) will be awarded $100 each. The photographs worth praising and that are not awarded will get honorable mention worth $25 each. Also, the best photographs will get featured on Friend’s website, on their social media, in their publications, and other materials. This will motivate the photographers to do better and capture beauty worldwide.
The contestants who want to participate in this unique contest and win exciting prizes and other benefits can send their entries before December 31, 2022. Remember to send it before the date mentioned in this contest, as late entries will not be accepted.
