Excelsior Scholarship Program

Are you a resident student of New York studying in any undergraduate degree? If yes, then the Higher Education Services Corporation brings you a fantastic scholarship program to make your academics easy. The candidates who have either graduated from high school in the United States earned a high school equivalency diploma only welcome to apply for the grant.

The scholarship is specially initiated to help scholars to overcome their financial stress during their educational journey. Students who are not able to complete their studies due to economic instability are supported through these scholarship programs. The government believes in improving the education quality of NYS students to create a bright tomorrow.

The Higher Education Services Corporation helps students with different scholarships. It wishes to induce a sense and awareness about the importance of education to have a successful and brighter future. Who May Be Eligible?

To apply for the Excelsior scholarship program candidates should follow below-given eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate should be a resident of NYS and have resided in NYS for 12 consecutive months prior to the beginning of the term.
  • The candidate should be a U.S citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • Candidate should have either graduated from high school in the United States earned a high school equivalency diploma, or passed federally approved test of Ability to Benefit as defined by the Commissioner of the State Education Department.
  • Applicant should have a combined federal adjusted gross income of $125000  or less
  • The student should be pursuing an undergraduate degree at a SUNY or CUNY college including statutory or community colleges at Cornell University and Alfred University
  • The student should be enrolled in at least 12 credits per term and complete at least 30 credits each year, applicable towards their degree program continuous study without any break in enrolment except for the reasons that can be documented.
  • The student should have earned at least 30 credits each year in the prior attendant college to the 2019-20 academic year.
  • A student who is in a non-default status on a student loan made under any NYS or federal education loan scheme or on the repayment of any NYS award
  • Candidate should execute a contract agreeing to reside in NYS for the length of time the award was received
  • Candidate should be in compliance with the service conditions imposed by NYS award that they previously received

How to Apply

All the eligible candidates should apply for the grant through an online application form. All the necessary details and the supporting documents asked in the for should be provided adequately to be considered for the award. Incomplete applications or materials will not be accepted or moved for further process.

  • The candidate should agree with the terms and conditions set by the authority. All the necessary details like name, college details, mail should be provided
  • Candidate should submit the documents proving their eligibility

Benefits

The winning candidate will receive a scholarship of up to $5,500. The Excelsior Scholarship will cover any reaming tuition liability up to $5,500, and a tuition credit will cover any reaming expenses not covered through the Excelsior Scholarship program. This scholarship is hugely beneficial for students dealing with financial problems.
