EMBL PhD Symposium Grants

EMBL Australia is pleased to announce the EMBL PhD (Heidelberg) Symposium Grants. These grants are open to students in almost any field – biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, informatics, engineering and molecular medicine.

It’s an opportunity to make connections with international scientists and get new insight into your own research direction. This year’s theme is ‘Game Changers: Taking Life Sciences to the Next Level’. The program includes networking opportunities, poster sessions and workshops with experts.

The symposium, an annual event organized by first-year Ph.D. students at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Germany, brings together fellow students from around the world for a three-day series of talks by leading experts.

Who May Eligible:

  • Australian Ph.D. students in the life sciences are eligible to apply for these grants.
  • The grants are open to students in almost any field – biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, informatics, engineering and molecular medicine.
  • Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at an Australian university and have not yet, submitted a thesis.

How to Apply & Competitions Rules:

To participate, the applicants must complete the application form and ensure a short letter of support is sent by their supervisor to student.admin@emblaustralia.org

Rules:

  • Funds can be used for any reasonable and relevant expense related to your attendance at EMBL.
  • You will need to submit a report including your final budget with receipts/evidence to the Student Programs Coordinator via admin@emblaustralia.orgat EMBL Australia within six weeks of your return.

Benefits:

Ten Ph.D. students will receive financial support of $2,000 to attend the EMBL Ph.D. Symposium in Heidelberg, Germany from 22 to 24 November 2018.

Application Deadline:

Applications will close on August 15, 2018.
