EEETrust Study Grants for Masters and Doctorate Degrees

The Ernst & Ethel Ericksen Trust is pleased to announce the Study Grants for Masters and Doctorate Degrees students to support studies at South African universities. These grants are open to the South African citizens who have completed their honors program and are studying at a South African university.

The EEETrust was established by Ethel Eriksen in the early 1980’s. The trust provides study grants to students doing a postgraduate study and has enabled scholars from all walks of life to fulfill their dreams, and in so doing benefit South Africa.

Who May Eligible:

To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:

  • The student must be a South African citizen.
  • The study must be at a South African university.
  • Students must have completed their honors in order to apply.

How to Apply & Competitions Rules:

Rules:

The following documents are required:

  • A certified copy of your identity document (required in step 1)
  • A certified copy of the results obtained in your most recent year at university (required in step 2)
  • A letter of confirmation that you have been accepted for your field of study and proof of application to the relevant university (required in step 2)
    Note: If you have applied, but not yet been confirmed you only need to provide proof of application to the relevant university.
  • Two references from academics.
  • You are required to submit 3 essays which must be entered online and be a maximum of 1000 characters each:
    • They would like to know more about you:
      • Tell about family, including your current circumstances.
      • Share a little about yourself: 1) Describe yourself in three words, 2) How would your friends describe you?, 3) What is your greatest passion?, 4) What are your major strengths/weaknesses
    • Give a short overview of your school (and post Metric/tertiary achievements so far.
      • What Leadership positions have you served in and what impact has that had
      • Mention the committees/organizations you belonged to and any community service projects you have been involved with.
      • Briefly state why you have chosen your field of study
      • Discuss your further study plans and ideals for the future.
      • Describe the South Africa you want to see in the next 10 years

Note: Make sure that any documents that are required have been prepared before you start. Documents should preferably be in pdf format.

Benefits:

The amount awarded will not exceed R20 000 for the proposed year of study.

Application Deadline:

Applications open on 1 August and close on September 30, 2018.
