DPO Scholarships for Future Teachers

The Districtwide Parents Organization has announced to provide a scholarship for those students who want to make their future in teaching field. Students attending senior high schools in the Iowa City Community School District and who are soon to graduate and have planning to pursue a college education to teach from kindergarten to 12th are eligible to apply for the program. Students need to write an essay on why they wish to make their career in teaching, including other reasons. This will provide them an opportunity to seek education related to their field.

The students who will get selected based on their essay where they will mention their desire to build their career in the teaching field will be awarded up to $1000. The number of awardees may vary. The amount will be used for their education and invested in related expenses such as tuition fees, books, other materials, etc. This scholarship will motivate and encourage students to pursue education in the Teaching field and provide related resources in the form of this scholarship.

The Lowa Community School Districtwide Parents Organization (DPO) scholarship was established in 1954 in honor of Kate Wickham. It was provided by the donations received by parent-teacher organizations, individuals, and area groups in honor of named individuals who have contributed to their school. The mission of this organization is to ensure all students will become responsible, independent learners capable of making informed decisions in a democratic society as well as in the dynamic global community; this is accomplished by challenging each student with a rigorous and creative curriculum taught by a diverse, professional, caring staff and enriched through the resources and the efforts of families and the entire community.
