The Alaska Community Foundation has announced a scholarship program as Donald Giles Vocational Scholarship Fund for the students of high school who has a diploma or General Educational Development certificate and living in Petersburg, Seward, or Homer communities. The scholarship is provided by the CEO of Icicle Seafoods, named Doe Giles, to provide the students living there to get successful jobs and careers.
The applicants who get selected for this scholarship program will be awarded $5,000; a total of three scholarships will be awarded. So this program offers scholarship amounts up to $1500. The amount provided will get used as students’ educational requirement fees. The expenses required to seek high education will be managed by this program, and hence students will get a chance to pursue their careers in vocational or trade studies.
The Alaska Community Foundation was established in 1995 and is a non-profit organization that works for local communities through grants. The foundation works on the purpose of encouraging the spirit of giving and connecting people, organizations, and causes to build up and strengthen Alaska’s communities now and forever.

Who is Eligible?
- Received high school diploma or GED certificate within the past two years
- Is a resident of the Petersburg, Seward, or Homer community
- Pursuing training, certification, or degree in vocational or trade studies (HVAC, plumbing, electrician, refrigeration, IT, Heavy equipment or engine tech, culinary, welding, construction tech, office, and biz tech, etc.)
- Preference will be given to the students who are intended to return to work in their home community or at least within the state of Alaska

How to Apply?
The eligible and fascinated applicants should get themselves registered. If the applicant is a fresher, then they must create an account, and if the applicant already has an account, then they must log in using the login credentials and access the scholarship. After successfully creating an account, the applicant must fill out all the required details. With this, they must attach a letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher, or adult mentor. Important:
Successful applicants must submit their student ID number and program information to ACF online. If the organizers do not receive the above information by June 30, 2022, the scholarship may not be awarded. Applicants must contact ACF if they cannot send information followed by the date.

The successful applicants selected for this scholarship program will be awarded $500; four deserving applicants will be selected who will be the beneficiary of this program. The amount will be used for students’ educational requirements and related expenses. This will lessen their financial requirements and will be more attentive in pursuing their education in vocational or trade studies. With this, students will get motivated and free to choose the field in the mentioned categories and build up their career as well as they will be able to take a step forward towards their goals.
Application Deadline
The students who fit into the eligibility criteria and want to apply for this program should register before March 17, 2022. Any delay in submitting the application will lead to rejection and disqualification.
