If you have a unique voice to reach your peers and raise awareness about the dangers of opioid misuse then grab your camera, recruit your friends, and submit your video for a chance to win $10,000 and other great prizes.
The United States is in the midst of an opioid epidemic, seeing a shocking increase in overdoses and deaths from these highly-addictive substances. Create a 30-60 second original Public Service Announcement aimed to reach other teens about this widespread issue.
The program is open to all thirteen (13) years of age students enrolled in 9th through 12th grade at a public, private, parochial, or home school located in the U.S.
Who May Eligible:
To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:
- Legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia (U.S.)
- Who are at least thirteen (13) years of age and
- Students enrolled in 9th through 12th grade at a public, private, parochial, or home school located in the U.S., at the time of entry and when prizes are awarded.
- There is no limit to the number of people who appear in the video; however, four is the maximum number of people who can be listed as team members.

- Approach your video submission as your chance to find a message that would resonate with you and your peers. If your friends—andteens throughout the United States— they’re going to watch one video that made them think twice about making bad decisions with prescription opioids, what would that video be?
- Open a user account by registering for the Challenge. You can create your video individually or with up to three friends.
- Be Creative! Create your video that speaks to the dangers of prescription opioid misuse and must be sure to include the Operation Prevention end frame at the very end. You can download this end frame from the Video Challenge homepage.
- Create a 30-60 second original Public Service Announcement aimed to reach other teens about this widespread issue.
- Submit Your Video as a YouTube link by 8:00 PMET on March 6, 2019. Make sure that you title your video “Operation PreventionVideo Submission – [Your title]” and that your video is set for public viewing. Don’t forget to review our Entry Video Checklist and the Contest Rules as any failure to comply could mean you will be disqualified—no matter how great your video is!
- The Entry Video must be at least 30 seconds long but not longer than 60 seconds long and must be submitted in English.
- The concept, ideas, and language used in the Entry Video must be wholly original to the applicable Participant(s).
- To upload your Entry Video, you must first create a registered user account at www.youtube.com and agree to all applicable terms at that site. There is no fee or charge to become a registered user ofYouTube.
The top 10 finalists will be added to an online poll for the public to determine the People’s Choice Award Winners of the competition will receive:
- 1st Place: $10,000
- 2nd Place: $5,000
- 3rd Place: $1,000
- People’s Choice prize: A trip to Quantico, VA for an exclusive tour of DEA training. Approximate retail value of the Trip Prize is $1,200 per participant.

The Entry Submission Period begins at 5:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) on November 13, 2018, and ends at 8:00 PM ET on March 6, 2019. All winners will be announced in May 2019
