The CyberCorps Mentoring and Scholarship Program

United States Citizen Students studying in the B.S. Computing and Security Technology and B.S. Computer Science, Computing Security Concentration majors can advance their study experience by applying for the scholarship program by the Drexel University. Candidates who are pre-junior in the 2020-21 academic year and graduating in June 2023 are eligible to apply. This scholarship is for students who are willing to take their cybersecurity career to the next level.

Drexel University of Computing and Informatics started the Cybercorps Mentoring and Scholarship Program to encourage students to participate in cybersecurity courses and projects. This scholarship is designed to recruit, train and mentor student scholars to transition into cybersecurity positions within federal, local, state, or tribal government organizations. It is intended to strengthen national cybersecurity by supporting a diverse cybersecurity workforce, including recruiting and retaining women and minorities.

Who May Be Eligible?

To be eligible for the Drexel University of Computing and Informatics Cyber corps Mentoring and Scholarship Program, the applicant must fit into the following requirements:

  • The fellow must be a United States Citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Individual must be enrolled as a full-time, traditional learning undergraduate student at Drexel University in the B.S. Computing and Security Technology, BS Computer Science or Computing Security Concentration majors.
  • Students should have a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0.
  • Applicant must be a pre-junior in the 2020-2021 academic years and should be expected to graduate in June 2023.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain an appropriate security clearance.
  • Transfer students are also eligible to apply.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should download the application form from the official website to start their scholarship application. Applicants must fill all the details mentioned in the application form. Other supporting documents to verify the eligibility of the candidate should be adequately provided. All the materials needed throughout the process should be sent to review with concern. Late applications will not be considered for the grant.

Supporting Documents

Applicants have to submit the following documents with the scholarship application:

  • Applicants have to provide a complete, updated resume. This resume should include a list of applicant’s academic recognitions, awards, honors, and distinctions.
  • Fellows should upload their unofficial transcript from their college or university. The official transcript should be submitted later on.
  • Individuals have to submit an essay of a minimum of 150 words. The essay should describe the applicant’s goals and aspirations to pursue a career in cybersecurity, why the applicant is the right candidate for this program, and how you collaborate with the other members of the applicant’s cohort.

Benefits 

Winner will receive the following benefits given below:

  • Winner will receive a stipend of $6,250 per quarter during academic quarters.
  • Winner will receive full tuition support for their college program.
  • Winner will also receive $6,000 reimbursement for the winner’s professional development expenses for the SFS job fair and other books, travel, and professional certifications.
  • CMSP scholars will also benefit from gaining real-world experience in the cybersecurity field through three co-op positions and the final co-op position at the government agency. Upon graduating, students will commit to a two and half year position in the U.S. Government.
