2021 Congressional Art Competition for High School Students

Take your artistic skills to a whole new level with the help of the Congressional Art Competition, now open for entries. Congressman Richard Hudson is now sponsoring this contest for the young students who possess an interest in the field of art and are aspiring to become a famous artist in future. This competition is a way for Congressman Richard Hudson to make available for such talented students a platform where they can showcase their skills and gain confidence to compete in such prestigious contests in future. The program intends to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and congressional district. This competition is meant for high school students who will be judged by an arts advisory committee made up of artists from North Carolina’s 8th District.

The winners of this district competition will get the opportunity to have their artwork displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. On the other hand, the first and second place winners will be provided with the chance to get their artwork featured in Rep. Hudson’s offices. Congressman Richard Hudson is an American politician who has been serving as the U.S. representative for North Carolina’s 8th congressional district since 2013. He represents the Republican Party, and his district has occupied a large portion of the southern Piedmont area from Concord to Spring Lake since 2017.

This scholarship is open to all high school students. However, there is no other specific requirement for this program.

How to Apply

To enter this competition, applicants will have to complete an online application form that requires personal information concerning their name, address and education level etc. Please ensure that information is authentic and complete since the fake and incomplete information might lead to disqualification.

Supporting Documents

As their artwork, candidates can send one of the following. Art entered in the contest may be up to 26 inches by 26 inches and maybe up to 4 inches in depth. Submission must be original in concept, design and execution:

  • Paintings – including oil, acrylics, and watercolour
  • Drawings – including pastels, coloured pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
  • Collage
  • Prints – including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
  • Mixed Media
  • Computer Generated Art
  • Photography
