The CWOA is seeking applications from students for its Colona Scholarship. The applicants who are a dependent son or daughter of the United States Coast Guard and also high school seniors enrolled at an accredited institution may apply.
The award has an aim to assist candidates who are passionate to achieve higher education but are not financially capable. The designed grant amount will be great enough to pay for the costly purposes of the studies.
The Chief Warrant and Warrant Officers Association were established in 1929. The United States Coast Guard represents United States Coast Guard warrant and chief warrant officers to the Congress, White House and Department of Homeland Security.
Who May Eligible?
In order to be eligible, the applicants must be following the entire eligibility criteria:
- Must be a dependent son or daughter of an enlisted member of the United States Coast Guard (active, retired or reserve)
- Must be seniors in high school with an average of “C” or higher during the most recent two semesters or be currently enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning with an average of “C” or higher for the year prior to application
- Students enrolled in an institution of higher learning, should be enrolled in a full-time course of instruction based on school or program criteria.
How to Apply

Supporting Documents
- Must submit proof of one of your parents who is an enlisted member of the United States Coast Guard on active duty, reserve or retired
- A document stating eligibility of parent: for example a DD-214, Letter from the unit or an application for identification card enrollment (DD form 1172)
- Students shall submit with their application their reason for attending or desiring to attend an accredited institution of higher learning. Submissions are limited to two hand-written pages or one typed page and must specifically include immediate and long-range goals.
- Students who have not completed one or more years at an institution of higher learning shall state a certified copy of his or her scholastic record beginning with the tenth grade.
- Applicants who have completed one or more years at an institution of higher learning shall state a certified copy of his or her academic record beyond high school.
- A copy of letter of acceptance at an institution of higher learning.
- Must submit documentation in support of any personal accomplishments, extracurricular activities, or community service performed during the past two years.
Benefits
The CWOA distribute each year, one or more Colona scholarship recipients will be awarded a $4000 scholarship. The award includes a $1000 a year for four years of undergraduate studies.
Application Deadline
