Cody Renard Richard Scholarship

Unique careers like Stage Management, Theater Design, Playwriting, and more should be encouraged just like the other careers. To do so, The Cody Renard Richard is welcoming students to apply for its authentic The Cody Renard Richard Scholarship Program. Candidates who identify as black, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous or a person of color are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Candidates should pursue a degree or a concentration in Stage Management, Technical Theatre, Theatre Design, Playwriting, Directing, or Theatre Management and should be enrolled, or intend to enroll, at an accredited college or university based in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska in the Spring of 2021.

This scholarship program aims to help students reach their full artistic, academic, and leadership potential by providing a direct financial contribution to help ease the burden of the many costs of attending higher education learning institutions, such as tuition, housing, textbooks, and class fees. The Cody Renard Richard Scholarship Program strives to encourage, Cultivate, and provide a space for the next generation of BIPOC artists, while honoring, recognizing, and welcoming their future contributions to the theatrical world.

Cody holds a BFA in Stage Management from Webster Conservatory, where he graduated with departmental honors. He has a passion for paying it forward and providing space for students and early career professionals. His favorite color is red, he loves an onesie, he can recite the entirety of The Little Rascals movie, and he still doesn’t know how to swim. His favorite musicals are Evita and Dreamgirls. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Cody grew up on a ranch surrounded by cows, chickens, horses, rabbits, and even pigs. He competed with his family in Rodeo events before trading his cowboy boots in for a career in theatre.
