BlueStar Scholarships for Military Members Dependents

Applications are now acceptable for the BlueStar Scholarships organized by the Lendlease Community Fund. The program is applicable for the dependents of active duty or retired, U.S. military service personnel.

The award aims to honour those military members who sacrifice their lives for their nation. The grants will be distributed to their children to assist them in accomplishing their higher education without any hurdles.

Lendlease Community Fund is an IRS-recognized non-charitable organization. It established the BlueStar Scholarships program in August 2012, and its mission is to provide scholarships to dependent children of active duty or retired military members.

Who May Eligible?

The candidates must follow the entire criteria to apply for the scholarship:

  • Must be dependent children of active duty or retired, U.S. military service personnel
  • Must reside in a Lendlease privatized community
  • Must be current high school senior planning to enrol in a full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester) undergraduate program at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university or vocational-technical school for the fall term of the upcoming academic year
  • Must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.00 scale or its equivalent on student’s cumulative high school academic record
  • Must demonstrate leadership through extracurricular activity or community service

Students can submit their applications either through mail at Lendlease (U.S.) Community Fund Attn: BlueStar Scholarships 1201 Demonbreun Street, Suite 800 Nashville, TN 37203 or also via email to BlueStar@lendlease.com.

Supporting Documents

  • A current and complete transcript of grades
  • Copy of college entrance test scores (SAT or ACT) or current college transcript
  • For High School Seniors, at least one signed and dated one-page letter of recommendation from a person in authority at a high school attended by the applicant
  • An essay of 500 words or less describing professional goal(s) and personal development and current progress toward achieving those goals; relate how past, present, and future activities are making these accomplishments probable. Essays should include the applicant’s name and signature at the bottom of the page
  • Acceptance letter for college, university or vocational institution.

Benefits

The BlueStar Scholar will receive an award of up to $5,000 to be used for any educational expenses. The award will be paid directly to the school and deposited into the student’s account.

Application Deadline

The applicants should provide their credentials by June 1, 2020.
