Even Though International Community School is ranked #1 in Best Public Middle Schools in Washington, I have a teeny tiny concern with this high school. If you are looking for a high school that does not have any sports and activities, clubs and organizations yet has fantastic academic and college prep programs, this high school is for you. Located in Kirkland, it has only 429 students where each student is given constant support and guidance.

The school has an outstanding balance of student-teacher ratio with 19 to 1. It is the best magnet high school with deeper level academics. They have a great alumni team and perfect funding. The only disadvantage is the low participation in sports and games in this high school.

3. Interlake Senior High School

Interlake Senior High School is located in Bellevue and has a population of 1786 students. Ranked as number 3 in Washington’s best high schools, they have an average graduation rate of 92 percent. The only disadvantage is the northeast Bellevue area. In addition, it has a high cost of living, and the median home value at this place is a whopping $669,259.

The football games are very famous at this school. But it is an over the competitive high school where students feel they are constantly stressed. The research shows that only 58% of students agree that they like their school and feel happy. Yet, there are plenty of clubs and organizations to get involved and engage a beautiful community at the high school.

Ranked as the #2 in Best Public Middle Schools in Washington, International School is a small school with just 587 students in grades 6-12. However, they have the best teachers in Washington state. So, if you are looking for a school to find a tighter-knit community, you have come to the right place.

You have to get very lucky to get into this middle school as they have minimal seats for middle school students. The school has no great sports activities. While the academics are very rigorous, the teachers are an excellent addition and helpful. This school is highly recommended for the close watch of your kids.

Although ranked #8 in Best Public High Schools in Washington, Mercer Island High School is hands down the top academic school, they have a whopping 90% of students proficient in math and 99% in reading. In addition, the high school offers AP, Honors, and Dual-enrollment classes, which is excellent.

There is an excellent selection of clubs and volunteering opportunities, along with sports. The only reason it did not make it up in the top 3 is the diversity. The school is predominantly filled with wealth and white. Therefore, the school must focus on its distribution of funding.

Although Eastlake High School is ranked #10 in Best Public High Schools in Washington, they have specific pros we have to look into. Located in Sammamish, the school has a decent 81% of students who are proficient in math and 94% in reading.

There are a lot of clubs and activities to keep you hooked. Clubs like theatre, choir, and leadership for cultural affinity and STEM clubs are great opportunities to mold your leadership skills which would be beneficial for the future. The school is in a very affluent area, which means that while it’s very safe and extraordinarily well-funded yet the only problem is it is not a diverse, friendly environment.
