The Alfred University Equestrian Studies program is designed to offer students an opportunity to define their own needs and goals and create a career plan that facilitates their achievement. Alfred University offers the opportunity for you to combine an Equestrian minor with one of our existing majors to prepare you for a wide variety of careers. AU students may bring their own horses to school. A monthly fee of $500 is charged for full care boarding.

Baylor University
If you are interested in the Baylor Equestrian program, baylorbears.com is the official athletics website of Baylor University. The Baylor Equestrian Team is a team consisted of about 75 participants. They practice in the Willis Equestrian Center and allocate about 80 Western and English horses.

Auburn University
The Auburn University has a Horse Center that is home to the equine teaching, research, extension and performance activities in the Department of Animal Sciences. Like all land-grant institutions, the Department of Animal Sciences serves three missions: teaching, research, and extension. Through their unique partnership with the Athletics Department Auburn University also support an NCAA women’s equestrian team.

Centenary College
Centenary University’s Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies will provide you with a comprehensive background in the care and management of horses. As an Equine Studies major, you will have the opportunity to choose from one or more of the following concentrations: Equine Business Management, Riding Instruction, Training the Horse, Communication for the Equine Industry, and Equine Science. All students take the same introductory level courses during their freshman year and choose a concentration during sophomore year. The Equine Studies curriculum covers topics including riding theory and training concepts, facility design and management, equine systems and disorders, and equine business management.

Berry College
Berry College owns approximately 60 horses. The majority of the horses are used for instructional purposes and research. The Gunby Equine Center also maintains a small band of broodmares and a breeding stallion. The Gunby Equine Center is also the home for Berry’s nationally recognized Intercollegiate Equestrian Team. Students are also encouraged to bring their horses to campus. The Gunby Equine Center provides full board, access to all facilities and trails throughout the campus for students maintaining their horses at the facility. Students have the opportunity to gain valuable experience working at the facility. Approximately 30 students involved in the Berry College work program are selected to work at the equine center.

Colorado State University
The Right Horse Program is booming at CSU! Colorado State University was the first land-grant university to offer a four-year bachelor’s degree in Equine Sciences. Student enrollment in the Equine Sciences major has steadily increased and now boasts over 400 undergraduates. The Equine Sciences program is home to seven clubs and teams. Students may join these clubs & teams as riding or non-riding members. Each group typically meets a minimum of once per week out at the Equine Center. The program is proud to offer a comprehensive bachelor’s degree with courses covering the following topic areas: Reproduction, Nutrition, Genetics, Disease Management, Assisted Activities & Therapies, Horse Training & Sales Preparation, Behavior, Facility Management, Foaling Management, and many more!

Emory & Henry College
Whether you want to pursue a degree in Equine Studies or ride competitively at the collegiate level, Emory & Henry is where you begin! Emory & Henry is one of the few colleges to offer undergraduate research putting students at the top of the job market. Students may choose to combine their Equine Studies degree with Business or another major or minor to further their handcrafted education. The curriculum offers a broad range of courses in teaching, schooling, horse show management, judging, stable management, anatomy, first aid and equine nutrition that prepare students for successful careers in a variety of different positions within the equine industry. Students participate in hands-on learning through research and work opportunities, including equine health-related research studies to assisting at A-rated Horse Shows.

Lake Erie College
Lake Erie College’s equine studies program is the first step on the road to success. Many students choose to combine their equestrian interests with studies in the natural sciences, business or psychology, or with preparation for veterinary or graduate school. Students will learn to think critically, communicate effectively and develop a sense of confidence that promotes leadership skills. Murray State University
The Murray State Equine Center is home to the Equine Science Program and the Murray State Equestrian Teams. The Equestrian Team is an extracurricular activity that is closely associated with equine science. The equestrian team not only assists students in developing riding skills but also as individuals in sportsmanship, leadership and organizational management. Oklahoma State University has a long-standing tradition of excellence and involvement in the equine industry.
