Get ready to show your writing talent to the world! Bennington College is currently accepting applications for its Young Writers Awards designed to promote excellence in writing at the high school level. Students who are in the 9th to 12th grades and demonstrate good writing skills can participate in this wonderful programme and win an exciting prize by using their skills. Both the USA and international students are welcome to take part in this competition.
The Young Writers Awards are divided into three categories: Poetry, Fiction, Nonfiction, and in each category, first, second and third place winner will be chosen. The motive of this competition is to encourage high school students who hold the potential to be famous writers by recognizing and rewarding their outstanding writing achievements. This programme can help students in several ways. It can enable students to win free money to further their education in their chosen field. Through this competition, students can cultivate good writing and critical thinking skills that will help them get success in school, employment, and life.

Who May Be Eligible?
Please meet the following requirements of the competition:
- Students must be in 9th to 12th grades;
- Candidates must have good writing skill;
- Entrants can be the US or international students.
How to Apply
This competition is divided into three categories and applicants of each category need to follow these rules given below:
- Poetry: Candidates of this category will have to submit a group of three poems.
- Fiction: This category requires a short story (1,500 words or fewer) or one-act play (run no more than 30 minutes of playing time).
- Nonfiction: Participants of this category will need to provide a personal or academic essay (1,500 words or fewer).
All entrants need to complete and submit an online application form with their writing work that must be in Microsoft Word & Adobe PDF files only. Candidates are required to submit their original work which must be sponsored by a high school teacher. Winning entries will be published under the Newsroom section and the Young Writers section on the Bennington College website in the spring.
Benefits
First-place winners in each category will get a prize of $500; second-place winners will be awarded $250; third-place winners will receive $125. These award amounts will help candidates finance their education.
