Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarships at Dartmouth College, USA

Applications are available for the Gilman Scholarships at the Dartmouth College. The program is specially introduced for students to support financially for their undergraduate studies abroad.

The award is open to U.S citizens and provided on a competitive basis. Students receiving federal Pell Grant at 2- or 4- year undergraduate colleges or universities may also apply for this scholarship.

Dartmouth College was established in 1769 by Eleazar Wheelock in Hanover, New Hampshire, United States. This is the ninth-oldest institute of higher education in the United States. It educates Native Americans in Christian theology and the English way of life.

Who May Eligible

Candidates must meet up to eligibility criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Candidates must be an undergraduate student in good academic standing
  • They must be the recipient of a Federal Pell Grant or provide proof that will be receiving a Pell Grant at the time of application or during the study abroad term
  • They must have applied or been accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit at the student’s accredited U.S. institution of higher education
  • Must study abroad in one country for at least 4 weeks. If the student remains in a single country for at least four weeks during the program, programs going to more than one country are eligible.
  • Students can study abroad in any country except those on the State Department’s current Travel Warning list.
  • They should study in the fall, spring, summer or academic year terms including winter inter-sessions

Rules:

  • All applications for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship must be certified online by both a financial aid and a study abroad advisor.
  • The financial aid advisor will verify that the student is currently receiving a Federal Pell Grant and the estimated amount of financial aid, in grants and scholarships that the student may apply to their study abroad program.
  • The study abroad advisor will verify the study abroad program information provided by the student and that the program they are applying to is an approved, undergraduate credit-eligible program at the student’s home university.
  • When completing the online applications, students will be able to choose the Study Abroad Advisor, Jonathan Sylvia, and the Financial Aid Advisor, Christen O’Connor, from the drop-down lists provided.

This scholarship awards will be used to defray eligible study abroad costs, which can include program tuition, room, and broad, books, local transportation and international airfare. And will provide cash prize rewards up to $5,000, with an average award of $4,000 depending on the length of study and students.
