Applications are open for the “BBB Ethical Torch Essay Scholarship” introduced by the Better Business Bureau. The students in grades 9-12 residing or enrolled in school in Apache, Coconino, Gila, Imperial, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Orange, Pinal, San Diego, Yavapai or Yuma Counties are eligible to apply.
The program is organized with an aim to support and motivate students towards their higher and quality education. The selected recipients will get adequate financial assistance for their education-related expenses such as tuition, fees, books, and any other.
The Better Business Bureau was established in 1912 as a private, nonprofit organization with a self-described mission is to focus on advancing marketplace trust, consisting of 106 independently incorporated local BBB organizations in the United States and Canada. It is s not affiliated with any governmental agency.
Who May Be Eligible?
To eligible, the students must be reviewing the given eligibility requirements:
- Applicants must be in their grades 9-12 (graduating classes of 2021 – 2024)
- Students must be residing and enrolled in school in Apache, Coconino, Gila, Imperial, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Orange, Pinal, San Diego, Yavapai or Yuma Counties are to apply for this scholarship opportunity.

Supporting Documents
- Must write essays on “The Importance of Ethics and Integrity in our Community.”
- Essays should not exceed 400 words or approximately one page.
- Students should discuss their viewpoints and give examples, as applicable. Students may review how marketplace ethics involves integrity and civility in our community. The essay critique is based on a point system (1-5), with (4) categories.
- Inclusion of Personal Viewpoints and examples (5 points);
- Relevance to Theme (5 points)
- Readability & Clarity (5 points)
- Spelling & Grammar (5 points)
Benefits
Five scholars in Greater Arizona and five scholars in Southern California will be awarded the below scholarship prizes:
- 1st – $1,500
- 2nd – $1,250
- 3rd – $1,000
- 4th – $750
- 5th – $500
