Ayn Rand Institute has inspired individuals around the world to discard convention and pursue a better life. They offer an array of educational programs to enable students at all levels of knowledge to learn about Ayn Rand’s philosophy and novels.
Who May Eligible
To be considered eligible for Ayn Rand essay scholarships, the candidates must follow the given criteria:
- The contest is open to students worldwide, except where void or prohibited by law. Essays must be written in English only.
- Entrant must be a 12th grader, college undergraduate or graduate student for any part of the school year in which the contest is held.
- ARI reserves the right to make exceptions to this rule, on a case-by-case basis, for international students or for students with nonstandard school years.
How to Apply
To be entering in an online essay contest, the candidates must submit an essay electronically
- The essay must be no fewer than 600 and no more than 1,200 words in length, double-spaced.
- Essays must include a stapled cover sheet with the following information:
- Your name and address
- Your email address (if available)
- The name and address of your school
- The topic selected (#1, 2 or 3 from the “topics” tab)
- Your current grade level and
- (Optional) the name of the teacher who assigned the essay if you are completing it for classroom credit.

Benefit
Winners of the essay contest can benefit from more than 230 prizes totaling over USD 70,000. The awards will be given in the following manner:
- 1st Place: 1 winner will receive $25,000
- 2nd Place: 3 winners will receive $2,500 each
- 3rd Place: 5 winners will receive $500 each
- Finalists: 50 winners will receive $100 each
