Art to Save the Sea Tote Bag Contest

Norfolk Botanical Garden is organizing the Art to Save the Tote Bag Contest with the aim to bring attention and promote solutions to the plastic pollution crisis. The contest will be held for individuals above 3 years of age under four categories. To participate, you are required to collect the tote bag and fabric makers and complete designing it before August 31, 2021, and send a photograph of the same via email. The submissions should be related to ocean and marine life conservation.

The winning designs under each category will receive amazing gifts which need to be collected in person from the Norfolk Botanical Garden. This is the opportunity for you to present your innovative and creative ideas of recycling and reusing things via your painting talent. Participating in the contest will help you learn new ideas and hone your skills and gain new solutions to the plastic pollution crisis.

Norfolk Botanical Garden is a 175-acres land with more than 60 themed gardens which can be viewed by a tram, a boat, or on foot. The themed gardens include Bristow Butterfly Garden, the Sarah Lee Baker Perennial Garden, the Virginia Native Plant Garden, and many more. The Norfolk Botanical Garden provides an educational experience along with entertaining visitors of all ages.

Who is Eligible?

The contest will be held under 4 categories based on age which are as follows:

  1. Age 3 to 7
  2. Age 8 to 13
  3. Age 14 to 19
  4. Age 20+

The submissions should be related to ocean and marine life conservation, or ways to change individual habits to reduce, reuse, recycle, and refuse single-use plastic bags in daily life.

How to Apply?

For participating in the contest, follow the stated guidelines:

  1. The theme of the contest is Art to save the sea.
  2. Participants will be provided with a tote bag and fabric makers to complete the contest.
  3. Once you complete your design, click a photo of your tote bag and send it to youthed@nbgs.org

Benefits

The winners of all four categories will receive an exciting prize pack that has to be picked up in person from Norfolk Botanical Garden. Also, their tote back designs will be shared on social media. This is an amazing chance for you to present your painting talent and get a huge audience for your work.
