The Peace Islands Institute (PII) has organized their 2022Art & Essay Contest for students studying from grades 6th to 12th from the State of New Jersey. This year’s Contest is based on examining how rapid technological advancements of the Century impact humanity. Students need to approach this subject through new opportunities or ethical concerns that have emerged resulting from new technology. So this year’s theme sets be on “Social Media Addiction.” As the Internet has a wide range of networks and Social Media has now entered into each home, from children to adults and even old-age people. Nowadays, social media attractions are increasing in every age group, so this Contest asks students to share their thoughts on this topic.
The participants will be judged according to their grade categories from 6-12. The award will be given as first place, second place, and third place winners and will be awarded amounts $500, $400, and $300 respectively. Also, for each category 5, special mentions with an award amount of $100 will be distributed. This Contest will provide opportunities for students to share their thought, views, and opinions on the addiction of social media in the community and their own self. Also, they will get to showcase their skills, talent, and creativity through this Contest and win the prizes.
The PII was founded in the year 2003 by Turkish-Americans of North Jersey and is a non-profit organization. The Art & Contest is the PII long-term project that was started in 2010. This project’s mission is to promote pluralism and bring people from different backgrounds together, which aims to togetherness, awareness, competence, and inspiration.

Application Deadline
Students who are fascinated to take part in this contest should get their artworks ready and submit them before the deadline of May 31, 2022. Entries received after this date will not be considered eligible.
