They are interested in reaching out and helping the students who have to demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and civic engagement. Their mission is to empower the voices of international adoptees, build cultural bridges, and acknowledge the loss of the birth country, culture, language, and biological family experienced by international adoptees. They want to excel and know the international adoptees’ lives and the obstacles, adjustments, and life experiences they face after their adoption.

Also-Known-As is an adoptee organization that is based in New York that serves international adoptees and their families. It was established in 1996 by Hollee McGinnis, a Korean adoptee, the longest-running adoptee-led organization for adoptee services in the United States. The organization has established the first scholarship program to acknowledge and celebrate young, dynamic adoptees attending college.

Who May Be Eligible

Please go through the points mentioned below to know about the scholarship criteria:

  • An applicant must be anU.S. citizen born outside of the country United States and adopted from another country.
  • He/She must be under 25 years, and an undergraduate student or high school senior who will be graduating in the spring or summer of 2021
  • Applicant must be planning to apply for full-time undergraduate at any accredited 2-4years college or vocational-technical school.

Applicants must fill out the complete application without missing any of the points asked as the incomplete application will be considered invalid. Completed application with the documents must be emailed at through the single email with the subject Scholarship Application 2021. The application will only be considered valid when all the required documents are attached in a single email in PDF or word document.

  • Applicant must submit the Experiences Resume
  • Student must answer the Four Essay Questions enlisted in the application
  • Applicant must submit the recent Official Academic Transcript, which is scanned.
  • Students must provide a Letter of Recommendation for a non-family member
  • And a Personal Expression / Pick Four which describes yourself to the applicant.
